I recall
my facination with the invisible world of sounds when I was seven. Then I found a guitar in the attic of
our house in New Jersey. It was a favorite uncle's abandoned 1950 Gibson Kalamazoo with f-holes. In
this secret place, and with this mysterious tool, I loved playing by ear and
began a life-long journey with music — first, rock, folk, and blues,
and later classical and jazz improvisation and experimental music. My first
attempt at performance was at my older brother's tenth birthday party when I
did a shameless imitation of Elvis singing and playing "Are You Lonesome
Tonight?" Afterwards, mom and dad found a teacher to come to the house to show
me how to play "Pipeline" (still one of my favorites). In third grade, I learned how to read music
and solfeggio from a singing nun, so I could sing in the church choir through
my school years, participating in and leading music events in and out of
school.
My first job after high school was teaching at local music
shops, and soon thereafter to college/convservatory for classical and jazz
technique and performance practice studies. After that I performed in concert halls, theatres, and
auditoriums and at small clubs, cafes, and parties. Through performing
and practicing, learning and teaching, I have developed my music with passion
and patience. I have enjoyed
over 20 years helping many people accomplish their music goals. Call for
